Five More!
I’m in a bit of a rush, so here are the next five novels that are going to make it into my top 50, list style!
1. Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card
2. The Foundation Series by Isaac Asimov (I know it’s a series and shouldn’t technically count as one, but hey, they’re just that fantastic, aren’t they?)
3. Starship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein
4. 2001: A...
The Hugo Awards
Wow, did I call it, or what? Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book won Best Novel and Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog won Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form. Congrats to both! Check out a full list of the winners here —> http://www.thehugoawards.org/2009/08/2009-hugo-award-winners/
Dune
Ok, I’ve finally solved The Case of the Missing Internet, and am now happy to share with you this —-> http://scifiwire.com/2009/08/director-berg-envisions-a.php which is a new, and hopefully awesome, film adaption of the scifi novel Dune. I know, you’re probably thinking, another adaption? Answer: yes. But give it a chance, wait until it actually comes out, and then we can...

Le Guin interview about Left Hand of Darkness →
Isn’t it funny how life works sometimes? I just finished reading Le Guin’s Left Hand of Darkness, and here’s an interview she just did today about it!
Left Hand of Darkness
Let’s talk about Ursula Le Guin’s Left Hand of Darkness, shall we? At first it was hard for me to get into the book, and the going was slow; I didn’t know some of the terms, there wasn’t too much action—it felt sluggish to me. Luckily, I’m one of those folks that once I start a book, I feel obligated to finish it…and thank goodness I did. A few chapters...
Hey all… So it’s taking me a little time to get into Ursula Le Guin’s Left Hand of Darkness… I’m not giving up yet, just give it a little time. In other news, my secret indulgence (it’s a wonderful show, seriously…) Legend of the Seeker was nominated for an Emmy in the category “Outstanding Music Composition For A Series (Original Dramatic...
Finally!
Ok, I finally got a copy of Ursula Le Guin’s Left Hand of Darkness, so be expecting an update on that front soon. In other news, I read The Time Machine by H.G. Wells, and although it was a short read, it was awesome. If you’ve ever seen the movies and said… absolutely not… like I did, or if you loved them (…really?), ..I’ve forgotten where I was taking this...
Love Star Wars? You'll love this. →
This is space. It’s sometimes called the final frontier.

Mini-hiatus
So I’ll be on a mini-hiatus for a few days, but never fear, I’ll be back by next Monday! But until then, I’d like you to know that the book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip Dick was awesome. I mean, it inspired Blade Runner, and who doesn’t want to read that book? So you guys should give it a read while I’m away, and give me your thoughts on it…and...
Galaxiki
Hey everyone, I hope you had a great 4th of July weekend. I just wanted to show you guys a fun link called Galaxiki, where you can create and edit your own galaxy… pretty cool, huh? http://galaxiki.org/
Hugo Awards
Hey, so the voting for the Hugo Awards ends on Friday, so if you’re a member ($50 is a tad hefty for me) and you haven’t voted yet, hop to it! I must say, of the nominees, I’m pulling for The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman (I love him), Serenity: Better Days by Joss Whedon and Brett Matthews (I love Serenity/Firefly), and Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog by Joss, Jed, and...
Suggestions, suggestions, suggestions...
Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions! I’ll be sure to try and pick up as many of those books as I can, they all sound fantastic. I really want to go pick up that Ursula Le Guin book, The Left Hand of Darkness, because I have to admit that I’ve always wanted to grab a Le Guin book but I’ve never managed to find the time. Anyway, thanks again!

Classics
So I took advantage of the somewhat rainy weekend (that has no intention of stopping) and read a few classics: 1984 and Fahrenheit 451. Now I’ve read both of these before, but I totally forgot how awesome they were. Let’s start with 1984: George Orwell is a master of science fiction. A futuristic society that frowns on individual activities, sex, and anything that goes against the...
I Am Legend
Basically, I Am Legend was fantastic, as were the short stories at the back of the book. This is definitely going on the list (how could a vampire apocalypse book NOT be on the list?). Suggestions for where to go next?
Currently reading
I’m currently reading I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. And it’s the version with some of Matheson’s short stories included in the back, so yay! So far, this book is awesome, but I must say that aside from the major plotpoint of vampires, this book is nothing like the movie. But if you’re a fan of the movie, don’t let that keep you from this book! This book has...
Sci-Fi Writers Day
Happy Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Day! Never heard of it before? That’s because today is its first appearance! Check it out —> http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=96106336820 People are banding together to start this new day, and I’m all for it. So in honor of today, I’m going to talk briefly about one of my favorite science fiction writers: Douglas Adams....
In the beginning
Hello, and welcome to my blog! I started off on this blog adventure to create a list of the 50 best Sci-Fi novels, and I want you all to come along with me! I’m new to the whole blog thing, so please excuse any technical difficulties you happen to notice over the next few days…weeks…months…however long it takes me to figure this whole thing out. I’m trying to set up a...
